Garab Tulku Lobsang Dhonden
About the Author
Garab Tulku Lobsang Dhonden was born in 1976 in the Bimangtang family of the last Regent of Tibet, His Holiness Tadrak Dorjechang. In search of Buddha’s heart teaching, under the kind guidance of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, he became a monk and joined Gaden Shartse Monastery in 1991. He proceeded through the 15 year program of Buddhist philosophical studies and completed it with flying colors in 2005. On the 27th of January, 2007 he was conferred the title of Geshe, the Tibetan equivalent of a Ph.D. in Buddhism.
Teachers
His main teachers are His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Abbot Emeritus His Eminence Lati Rinpoche, Abbot Emeritus His Eminence Jampa Yeshi, and two renowned 20th century yogis who spent their entire lifetimes in meditation in the forest, Gen Lamrimpa and Gen Nyima.
Tulku Recognition
On February 20, 1992 His Holiness the Dalai Lama recognized Rinpoche as the reincarnation of the 5th Garab Lobsang Tsultrim Tenpai Nyima who was the abbot of Sonak monastery in the Amdo Rebkong region of Tibet.
Rinpoche has conducted teachings, lectures, and healing sessions world-wide, including the United States, Spain, Germany, Italy, France, Greece, Singapore, and Malaysia. His teachings on the Buddhist way of happiness have been well received; even non-Buddhists throng to his lectures and classes. Rinpoche is currently working on establishing ‘Badawa Buddhist Academy’, which offers comprehensive Buddhist studies designed to cultivate Nirvana Wisdom.
